We know that many Wisconsin families are feeling the strain going into this holiday season. Rising costs due to tariffs and uncertainty around affording the bare necessities are top of mind for most families.

At our December meeting, the Democratic Party of Taylor County collected approximately 50 pounds of food and a generous monetary donation of $500.00 was given to the MATI – the Taylor County food pantry located in Medford, WI.  Our Taylor County food bank serves over 300 needy families monthly.

The Democratic Party wants to make sure our communities know we are here to support them in any way we can.

“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.” – Martin Luther King, Jr

The conversation about diversity, equity, and inclusivity is expanding daily and will continue to evolve in 2025. While we have seen some improvements in creating a safe and accepting space for all people, there’s always more work to do. A peaceful and productive society is dependent on both diversity and inclusion.  The Democratic Party of Taylor County supports diversity and inclusion.

January is a month to celebrate the diverse ways in which we communicate and connect with each other. From recognizing the importance of Braille for the visually impaired to observing cultural and religious celebrations, this month highlights the many ways people express identity, memory, and community.

January 3 – Buddhist: Mahayana New Year
Celebrated in many Mahayana communities on the first full moon of January, focusing on reflection and renewal.

January 4 – UN: World Braille Day
Celebrates the importance of Braille for people who are blind or visually impaired.

January 7 – Coptic & Eastern Orthodox Christian: Christmas
Marks the birth of Jesus Christ according to the Julian calendar.

January 19 – US: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Observed on the third Monday in January, honoring Dr. King’s leadership in the civil rights movement.

January 27 – UN: International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust
Marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and promotes Holocaust remembrance and education.
